This was horrifying. It's a black widow and I found it behind the deck box. It was about 1 1/2 inches, which is about as big as those suckers get. Yuck. I was shaking and terrified, but I managed to kill it and destroy its egg sacs. I also found a horrible cockroach nest in one of the blackberry trees. I sprayed it. I went to finish off the black widow and these monster cockroaches were determined to torment me until their death and were scurrying all around. I felt like I was in a horror movie (I've never actually watched one, but "horrifying" is the word that keeps coming to mind). Then do you know what happened? The kids that I sent inside started pounding on the window that was facing the back porch asking if I killed the black widow yet. I screamed. I'm pretty sure some curse words flew out of my mouth at this point, so it's good the said kids were inside.
And for the record, this was a couple of weeks ago. Last night I had yet another horrible nightmare about this spider. Porter could tell I was pretty shook up the night I found this and he kept trying to reassure me that 1. I did the right thing to kill it. And 2. I really shouldn't be so afraid of black widows, because they are very much afraid of people and not at all aggressive. Thanks, kid.
This crappy picture that was taken with my phone does not do this gorgeous sunset justice. It literally took my breath away! Arizona has The Most Beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. In my life. Ever.
