Well they say time flies. They were right about that one. Jared gave the kids buzz cuts the other day and I cried a little when Noah came out of the bathroom. I hid it, of course, because Noah was so excited about it. Not only did he have great hair before, but now he looks... older. And he gets a little older every day. And every day we are busy with things. And I wish I could just take a day off from taking older kids places and teaching younger kids their ABC's and making three meals a day and keeping a house and all of it's inhabitants clean and just... be here with these swell folks I call my family. Sunday's are nice because they are more that way than any other day. Christmas is Best, though. Christmas on a Sunday? Well, it doesn't get better than that, does it?
My baby is almost TWO?! We had to practice for the Primary program today and I figured I was going to have my hands full with him and not be very much help. I underestimated the little fella. He just sat next to Jessie pretty much the whole time. He got the wiggles, but not any more than most of the older kids there. He sat on my lap sometimes. Basically, he was a little angel! And once again proving to me that he is... older. This is a very bittersweet time in my life.
He has taken to noticing shadows, and he actually really likes them! He tells my shadow and his shadow goodnight when I'm tucking him in and takes note of them whenever we are outside. I wish I knew what was going through his little head.
He really loves his family. A few times throughout the day he'll go through all the people that are gone. I wonder if it's just something for him to talk about or if he wants to make sure I haven't forgotten them or if he's just really wondering where they are all day. It goes like this:
Noah: Poe? (That's Porter. He says this in his honky voice. Brock nicknamed Noah "goose" because he honks his words a lot).
Me: Porter's at school.
Noah: Mmm. Da? (That's Dad.)
Me: Dad's at work.
Noah: Mmm. Nan? (That's Logan. And he only asks this in the afternoons, when Logan is at Kindergarten).
Me: Logan's at school.
We go through this usually three or four times a day. Sometimes it's when we just barely dropped someone off.
Occasionally, the conversation goes on...
Noah: Mmm. See. (That's Jessie. He is no longer talking in a honky voice. He is pointing to where she is.)
Me. Yep.
Noah: Mom. (Pointing to me now)
Me. Yep.
Noah: Me. (Pointing to himself)
I love this age. It's definitely a favorite. I don't worry about him. He is still snuggly and innocent and does some baby things, but his little personality really comes out more as he is physically growing and able to do more things and express himself.
Here are some pictures of Noah's birthday. There aren't any of Porter at Chuck E. Cheese because he ran off too quickly to play his own games and win a ton of tickets.
