Wednesday night Jessie was sort of fussing in the bathtub. I was in the shower, so I called to her numerous times, trying to get her to tell me what was wrong. She wouldn't talk about it. I could tell she wasn't hurt, so I finished my shower. When I got out I saw that the tub was drained and the poor little thing was curled up, freezing cold. There was a towel right next to her, but in her defense she was tired. Not so much the lazy kind of tired, but the "I don't know what to do with myself" tired. Anyway, I wrapped her up and laid her here by the fire while I took care of some things and when I came back this is how I found her. I don't know why it always makes me feel bad when my kids fall asleep for the night in odd places. I really enjoy our bedtime snuggles and stories. It makes me feel like no matter how busy the day got, we at least got to reconnect at the end of it.
The next few pictures I took today. Noah still has applesauce all over him from his lunch. Domino is actually in front of him, but he is weird and has to be right next to me, so I couldn't get him in the picture.
I could not get them to all look at me and smile like normal people. I love them anyway.
I guess I spent a lot of time in the kitchen today since that's where the pictures were taken. Too bad I don't have much to show for it. This was later today when Jessie and Porter were enjoying a yogurt snack. Jessie got some yogurt on her nose and kept trying to lick it off (funny), and Porter (I think subconsciously) started trying to reach his nose with his tongue.
While cleaning Jessie's room today I found this cute little note from Aliya. I took a picture so it never gets lost. :) Jessie added the scribblish letters at the top.
For Porter's birthday we gave him a fishbowl, rocks, and fish food because he's been saving his money for a fish. Many times he decided he'd rather earn State Quarters for his collection instead of earning money*. Always a tough choice. We finally went to the store yesterday to pick one out. He decided on a male Betta and had enough money leftover to buy him a sweet submarine. Porter has an alarm clock in his room that has several different sound options. Porter has it set on the ocean sounds right now, because he thought that would make him feel more at home. His name is Indigooey. (I call him Indigo for short.) I could not, for the life of me, get a good picture. I chose this one because if you look closely where the fish is, you can see Porter sleeping in the glass reflection. He really likes this fish, and I do to. He notices when you walk in the room and looks at you and stuff. He likes to eat, so feeding time is entertaining for the kids. I never thought of fish having a personality, but this guy seems to. All the other kids are already talking about the day they get to pick out their own fish. Oh boy.
*He started collecting State Quarters at the beginning of the school year. Now whenever I have quarters I save the state ones. We gave him a map to keep all of his quarters on for Christmas. This has been a fun little hobby for him and recently Logan decided he wants his own collection. While my parents were here they gave Porter several dollars worth of quarters, helping him along with his collection. The only time I've just given him a State Quarter is on the rare occasion he runs errands with me and I happen to get one he doesn't have. I want the collection to be his, not mine, and the collecting process is really the fun part, anyway. It was really cute to see my Dad and Porter's cousins sort of band together and see what State Quarters they could give Porter that he didn't already have.
